  • Alexander Bartholomew, Director of Multichannel, The Range
     
    Alexander has been responsible for digital functions in FTSE250 organisations and involved in e-commerce start-ups both as a founder and strategic advisor. Digitally savvy prior to receiving his grounding in retail on the John Lewis Partnership management scheme, he has since gone on to hold a number of senior e-commerce and multichannel roles at major UK retail brands Waitrose (the premium grocer part of the John Lewis Partnership), the soft furnishings retailer Dunelm, and most recently since 2014 on the executive board of homewares retailer The Range directing their multichannel strategy, which is reported to be delivering significant growth having been recognised in the Sunday Times Fast Track 100 and now operates over 140 stores in addition to their substantial online operation.

    Ian Jindal is consultant, advisor and publisher, driving transformation in ecommerce and multichannel retail.

    Ian co-founded InternetRetailing, the trade publication for Europe's professionals in multichannel retail, in partnership with SJP and Mark Pigou. Ian leads the strategic direction of the title, developing the editorial and services to anticipate and meet the demanding needs of this dynamic sector.

    Ian founded and directs the UK's first MSc qualification in Internet Retailing (with Econsultancy and Manchester Metropolitan University's Business School).

    Ian acts as a board-level advisor to major retail and consumer businesses: House of Fraser, Marks & Spencer, John Lewis, Camelot Group, Toast, Couturelab, De Bijenkorf and numerous other retailers. He has previously been Group eCommerce Director for Littlewoods Shop Direct Group and Head of Online Operations for the BBC.

    Sean is an experienced retailer who progressed through a range of retail roles including store, regional and divisional management at Schuh, before getting into Ecommerce in 2010. A long-time advocate of integrating bricks and clicks in the pursuit of an optimum retail experience, in his current role he has, among other things, delivered on growth, mobile optimisation and a clear-sighted cross-channel proposition. He is passionate about offering real convenience to an increasingly sophisticated, demanding and tech-enabled customer. A regular contributor at ecommerce events in the UK and elsewhere, his interests include CRO, use of content, developments in voice and visual search, AI and the start-up ecosystem. He recently took some study time out to sharpen his pencil at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

Previously, Giles was Customer Experience Director at Lloyds Banking Group where he led a team to design, manage, optimise and protect the digital customer experience across all digital touchpoints for 10 million active digital banking customers to maximise commercial value and customer satisfaction. Giles has held senior positions across digital, customer, marketing and technology in consumer brands including Mercedes-Benz where he was the UK’s first e-commerce manager in 2001 and Currys where he launched one of UK retailing’s first multi-channel propositions ‘Reserve & Collect’ in 2007.

A Graduate of the Institute of Export and Member of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport, Peter’s career started in the export shipping department of Courtaulds plc, before joining his family's freight forwarding company, D H Ward (Shipping) Ltd, where he became Managing Director. In 1994 he masterminded the Company's merger with American-owned Fritz Companies, which under his leadership became a top-five forwarder in Europe prior to acquisition by UPS in 2001. More recently Peter was Director Europe of P&O Nedlloyd Logistics, and Commercial Director at DP World London Gateway prior to joining UKWA as Chief Executive in January 2015. Peter has significant practical experience of international process design and network optimisation throughout Europe, Asia and North America; designing and delivering complex supply chain solutions in different logistics and client organisations worldwide, with an impressive history of multiple client cost and service benefits across various industry sectors.

    Originally from Manchester, Phil spent 14 years living in Germany and France before returning to the UK in November 2015.

    Phil studied finance and accounting at Salford university, and went on to qualify as a management accountant shortly after. He has worked for various retail, FMCG and tech companies over the last 20 years, with 8 years spent working for Amazon, where he held various finance roles and learnt about scaling a business. His most recent role was leading finance for Amazon's European Operations, before joining Deliveroo in June 2016. Although his favourite job ever was investing in bars in Germany and Austria. Outside work Phil has 4 children, enjoys an occasional Gin and Tonic and is a retired martial artist. Fun fact, there isn’t one he’s an accountant.
